Has anyone used the Liteshaper tools?
www.liteshaper.com
Did they work as advertised? I am particularly interested in the Arm kit.

That is one ugly, poorly designed site. I really don't see what it is supposed to do so well that makes me want to buy one. It does make want to stop looking at it and trying to read th crappy text.

You can purchase puppies instead, though. They got *that* going for them.

I'm not asking if you like their site.
Just wanted to know if you've used the product...

I don't see anything that's unique about that product that you can't do yourself cheaper. I use standard Avenger grip-heads on light stands to hold reflectors, flags, etc.

For large (20" X 30") reflectors and flags, I hot glue a piece of 3/8" dowel to the back of a piece of black/white foam core. For smaller flags and gobos, I bend Cinefoil around a wire coat hanger and clamp that to a light stand, arm, boom, etc.

I buy cheap (~$25) light stands for the purpose of holding such like. They aren't good for holding lights

The best single lighting accessory you can buy is "Light - Science & Magic" once you understand how lighting works, you will realize you can make many of the modifiers you need, simply scaling basic principles to match your requirements.

Here's a good example. The object being photographed is almost hidden by the camera. The black flag provides a black surface to make dark reflections on the object. The flag is held with an Avenger grip head on the light stand to the right.

Also visible is my DIY seamless stand, made from PVC pipe.

This is the resulting image. Neither the client or I liked the effect, and I've abandoned the plex.

The black flag reflects in the bottom surface of each opening, and in the top of the piece, creating dark contrasts.

Thanks for the post and helping me to see and understand.
Appreciate you taking the time.

I agree the end result is very nice and professional.

Now I just need to go and find "Light - Science & Magic""

God bless
