I found some cow elk heading North in our valley. Our valley is about 50 miles long North and South. This was a pretty hard winter so the elk ending up in the South part of the valley for their winter range. Now that it is getting warmer they are starting back North towards the high county to their calving area. They won't calve until around the 1st of June so there is no rush, they are slowly eating their way North.
Nice looking animals roger. They all seem to know exactly where you are, it must be difficult to get close to them and on the correct side of them so you have the light correct. Good job on these.

Hi to YA!!! Tim. I think a lot of people would be surprised how much homework goes into getting into position to get a few shots. Example: Find them on Monday morning and figure where you need to be at the time the sun if mother nature co-operates to get a photo. If everything is perfect you might get the shots Tuesday. You have to wait until they go back into the dark timber before you can get close enough to figure out a ambush.
And here all along I thought you owned a petting farm Roger Easy to take for granted in the true wild how sensitive and aware animals are to there surroundings. Just a bit of human scent from a long ways away and they are on the move staying just out of reach.
Great job on tracking and capturing these photos Roger, glad to see you are in better climate conditions too. Nice shots.
