thehotel Offline Image Upload: Off p.1 #1 · Migrating Elk Migrating Elk I found some cow elk heading North in our valley. Our valley is about 50 miles long North and South. This was a pretty hard winter so the elk ending up in the South part of the valley for their winter range. Now that it is getting warmer they are starting back North towards the high county to their calving area. I think a lot of people would be surprised how much homework goes into getting into position to get a few shots. Example: Find them on Monday morning and figure where you need to be at the time the sun if mother nature co-operates to get a photo. If everything is perfect you might get the shots Tuesday. Just a bit of human scent from a long ways away and they are on the move staying just out of reach.
