p.1 #1 · home printer advice (please read)

I am an hobbyist sports shooter. Don't get to FM at all lately.

Years ago I bought an Epson 960 figuring it was the more affordable 2200 of the time. I got satisfactory results using Epson premium luster paper and occassionally would sit down and enjoy making prints to share with friends and/or frame and hang up to 8x10...I was happy.

Now it is years later, I got the urge to make some prints only to find I am out of ink and paper, I am looking at a few hundred bucks to re-stock....and I start to wonder if the 960 is too outdated to spend the money on.

So I stick a sheet of premium luster paper in my $90.00 all-in-one and print a shot that comes our really good.

Considering I haven't kept up on the products. Anyone care to provide some thoughts or suggestions regarding reliable, quality home photo printers, say under $500.00?

Edit: I should add that I enjoy shooting more than post processing. I use PS Elements, shoot .jpg and process by eye.

I second the R1900. I have an R1800, and I'm considering upgrading.

I never encountered a problem with it (until I tried a CIS, but that was my fault).

If you do a lot of black and white, the R2400 is better suited, but it's older. The R1800 was upgraded, so I'd imagine the R2400 will be upgraded next.
