I recently purchased a new Sony GR700 Dye sub printer, which I will be using for large quanitiy portrait prints.. does anyone know where I can find the correct ICC Profle to use with this printer.
I tried several profiles from my Epson inkjet prints and some with good results, but I noticed there are some minor color and contrast difference.
The color profile is specific to the printer/paper combo. Odds are, if the paper manufacturer does not provide a profile, you will be stuck using an approximation or creating your own.
I have not had the need to do it myself, but you have two options: print a profiling image and send it to a service that does it (cheaper) or buy the equipment to do it yourself (expensive).
I know there are some good ones out there, but I don't know of them offhand. Hopefully someone does and will chime in here.
I have the same problem...will custom profiles work with Dye Sub printers? Does anyone already have a good free one that I could try with my Sony GR700? You would think Sony would have one...my Sony DR200 has one
The success of using a custom profile for your dye sub is dependent on the ability of the Sony driver to send untouched raw RGB data to the printer to print the profile target, and secondly, the day to day, month to month stability of the printer itself. If both of those criteria can be met, then making and using a custom profile will be cake.
