I can't help but wonder how it would look without the sun flare. It's beautiful, but my first reaction is that is seems more of a distraction than something that adds to the image. The tree is so beautiful on its own.
Man, this one is super! Very cool job on isolating that tree, and then catching the sun at just the right moment.

Actually that was my second crack at it that morning. I missed the first time and had to go running down a hill with all of my gear to get in place for another try. I'm sure that it was comical to watch.

I have several without the sun as well. The tree alone against that sky was what first drew me to the scene. I like the sun flare because, at least to me, it gives it a "fleeting moment" feel.
I sent you an email Sunny. It's off of Latrobe Road, East of Sacramento.
To give it some perspective I took that at 400mm so it's quite a way from the road. That said, there are hundreds of similar trees in the Sierra foothills. All you have to do is look for them.
