Friend took this shot of me. I'm not sure if the dials and guages are too busy. I'd hate to crop them out because I think it gives the picture its ambiance. I tried to bring myself out in the B&W conversion. Any C&C welcome.

I think it is pretty good . The sepia is a good add.

You might consider cropping off the left side to elbow so as to be less busy and less centred.

Next time I suggest using a fill flash which will darken the background behind him and make him stand out more.

I really like this image.
I wouldnt crop it. I think the context is well-captured, not too busy. I'm immediately drawn to the warm smile and feel engaged with subject, looking right at the camera. Toning is excellent; pleasant, not too intense.

my eye is drawn to the right, to the front of the airplane window by the diagonal frame, which isn't what your looking for.

I agree the fill flash would have helped... but take this for what it's worth, i'm no pro.
