With which filter did you shot that one ?
And with which camera settings, total zoom & macro mode ?

Hi Edwin,

For all the shots I stacked both the +2 & +4 filter.. I shot in Macro and had the camera set to Programed Auto mode. The lens was set to full wide angle.

Fantastic shots. I agree with Edwin with # 2. Looks like the Hopper is about to attack me!

Wow. Because I'm not much of a bug fan, I tend to stay away from bug threads. 'Glad I paid a visit to this one. Franck, these shots are incredible. I'm especially fond of # 2.

Thanks for sharing these with us.

Great work Frank ....

Hope you have a great New Year.

Have a look at a 300d if you want a cheap alternative to the 10d keep an eye out for my postings for examples of what it can do.

Franck, Buddy I think we have been practicing, these are great shots my friend , I like #4 the best but all are very good composition wise. Try to use a tripod if you aren't and shoot at a smaller f stop. use your timer if you have one . these young hoppers should stay still long enough. these are very good franck even though it may seem i'm picking on you.

Thank you Eileen. I hope we can encourage you to view more bug macro's. Mine are pretty average compared to the others on this board

Thanks for your kind words. They are very encouraging

Thanks Han. I did notice that #5 was a tad blurry. The little bugger started to move on me just as I pressed the shutter button. I have a couple of shots of him but this was the best.

Thanks Tom!!.... Your comments and advice are always appreciated even if you are picking on me J/K hehe

Seriously though, I do appreciate your comments and to be honest I did use a tripod. Unfortunately I had to lift the tripod onto 2 legs in order to get closer to the grasshoppers. This caused some slight movement but I had no option as there was too much stuff on the ground to allow the tripod to get closer on all three legs. Hopefully next time I can get some sharper images with the hoppers in a better position

Glad you are seeing some improvements in my shots though!... Means a lot to me mate!!

Hi Gary!!.... Thanks for dropping by as usual. I'm glad you like the photo's

Unfortunately I only got a couple of other shots of #4 in roughly the same position before the hopper decided to do a runner on me. Guess he didn't like my lens in his face lol.... Hopefully I'll be able to get another one with similar colours soon

Wow, Nice Shots !!!!!

Don't know what I can add that hasn't already been said; they're all great, but I particularly like the tight crop of # 3.

Looking forward to more of your shots, while here in New England I have to wait a few months for the return of these critters.

Happy New Year

Brian
