p.1 #1 · Some bears playing.

Here are some grizzly bears i shot. Please comment on the sharpness, as i cant really tell how shartp it is, and would like to know because these were taken with ef 75-300mm lens, which people say is very soft. They dont look very soft to me...

Hi Kid.
On my monitor- they do not look very sharp to me. Looks like in phosting, they need more sharpening. Thats what i see.
Cheers

Hi,

I think they look alright but it is basically impossible to judge whether a lens is sharp or not by looking at these images alone. You need to show larger images/100% crops!

Anyways, don't worry too much about sharpness, I have a 75-300 too and it produces very nice results.

At least on the monitor I'm using, the first looks good, the second looks a little soft, I think some stronger PP might help resolve it better.

One thing that might help is to take some test shots of a known subject with the lens and test the sharpness. I notice on my 70-300 that at 300 its soft unless I step down a stop or two, but every lens has it's own personality.

You might want to consider downsizing your posts to this forum so they will load better. The second shot would not open for me. Steve W

Hey Kanon Kid,

they're both slightly soft. My current version of Mozilla won't give me your EXIFs - - would you mind sharing f/stop, shutter speed with us. Sharpness of lens can change with simple long lens technique.

Let us know & maybe we can help you get better with some long lens technique...
