thanks guys, yes the skating rink was a grab shot, i just loved the odd colors. The concession stand was to the left so it didnt make for a great balanced image.

Justin forgive my ignorance but I am trying to understand your set up here. Is the D1X converted of are you using a filter on a standard D1X. Thanks. Love the photos and own a D1X myself so my interest is peaked. Bob

not ignorant at all Sir........ yes I took apart a perfectly fine D1X, removed the AA filter that blocks IR spectrum, and in its place installed an visible light filter, known as an IR filter, which blocks light in the visible spectrum. The result is a wee bit of visible light, around 720nm... and on up into the IR spectrum.
When converted the camera looks, operates just like any other camera. shutter speeds are the same as a normal camera...
You can have this type of conversion done, lifepixel.com is a popular one. I was just curious and so did it myself. there are a few other IR guys on FM that helped me along the way.

Great colors & tones in #1. Excellent IR photography.
Hey boogie... thanks for stopping in. yes the leaves will be back in a month or so.... then the 1x IR will reallly get a workout I shot phipps a few weeks ago with a D1, but it had a higher level of IR filter in it so not much color. i wanna get back over there with this one as its much more sensitive to visible light. thanks for stopping by
Hey Justin...I hear you about the leaves. This has to be the longest winter on record with lack of sun. It's driving me nuts. I did manage to get out Sunday and went to South Park and Homewood Cemetery. I have 2 converted cameras...
A Full Spectrum Canon 20D and a recently converted Enhanced Color 665nm Canon XTi. The Full Spectrum is lot's of work but fun.
