p.1 #1 · Right Place, Right Time

Today was DEFINATELY an example of being in the right place AND at the right time.
I happened across the Kestrel on the branch. I setup my tripod and managed to get just a couple shots before this Bald Eagle came and chased him away...oh well, at least I didn't mind!

You found the magic tree branch.

Even though you happened to be in the right place at the right time, you still deserve the credit for getting the shots as things changed quickly.
Well done.

How long after you left the lock did you run into this guy. Where at on the river were you.
Nice talking to you yesterday

Oh come on why would he run from those pretty bald eagles?

Great shots. Are those down by the dam under the rte 3 bridge?

Your title said it - that is what it is about! It also helps to have some talent and equipment to back it up. Great set! Steve W

Great shots ! I've never been able to get close enough to a Kestrel with my 70-200 to get a good shot.

Hey there, Mike...did you get my email?
I'd say it was about 30min or so after I left the lock area.
I was right under where the road goes under the bridge.

Great captures, Chris.

I grew up about 25 miles from Alton in S. Illinois; I'm still waiting to see my first eagle in N CA, where I've been for a long time. The fact the eagles are showing up in Alton might be enough for this "weather wimp" to come back to visit family in the winter (something I'd sworn off long ago after a nasty Christmas trip, weather-wise).

How nice to have a lovely Kestrel set the stage for a beautiful bald eagle landing! You moons were aligned and you were in the zone, good for you, never know what presents itself, being there is rewarding. Perhaps you also bought a lottery ticket that day....? Very nice shots.

Hey, commodorefirst...nice to see you drop by!
You going to be out there Saturday?

Karl...no, I'm afraid I didn't buy one.
Not a bad idea for next time though!
