Here are a couple of bittern shots that absolutely surprised me, so much so I had to BACK UP to get them in focus! They are from Ridgefield NWR in WA. I had a wonderful day there, the light was not the best but the birdies did not let me down.

Now the cute one. This is not any great shot, just a quick one. I now wish I spent more time on it.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice shots, Tim. Lighting and detail are super. I really like the second shot, with the beautiful setting and fine composition. The raccons shot is very cute. Especially the one looking from the tree hole to the point that it may deserve a tight crop just for him.

Nice bitterns Tim. I remember how elated I was when I first came across the bittern. They are a pretty exciting find IMHO. Great job!

Nice shots Tim. Especially like number two with its head sticking out of the grasses.

Cheers,

Thank you for the kind words Socrate. I almost didn't post the raccoons, the photo is not that good so I didn't want to put much effort in it. I agree with your crop idea, I should have done that. Maybe I will when I get home tonight.

Looks like 2 is the winner. I would have to agree, I had more time to set up for that than the first shot. Thanks,

Tim

Such a great natural shot of the bittern. Caught him off guard and he froze to try to camo himself. That is a beautiful shot #2 caught perfectly in his own environment.
Cute little bandit in the tree!

Tim, that's a very cute Raccoon image, but the Bittern images are fantastic. I saw one in Ridgefield last year and that was the last one I've seen. You did good.

Excellent shots of the bittern, and to have gotten it while it tried to look like the foilage is great!

Nice close ups on the bitterns. The colors of the bird really go well with the grass. I'd try to get rid of that stem going up through his beak as it makes me think of a puppet. The raccoon shot is nice too. I'd like to see it with just a crop of the one in the hole.

Thanks for the kind words Maggie. That was my first trip down there. I still have many to process, I was able to get a pretty keeper ratio so more to come.

I do agree about the stem, I'll have to get rid of that. I hadn't thought of it as a puppet but now that you mentiion it....

Thanks, Tim

For you and Socrate. I obviosly missed the focus, that was the reason for not cropping originally. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
