I'm not sure if this is right board for this question, but it looks to be the most likely.
I have often read on various boards on this forum "When I looked at the EXIF data I noted that you used...." Where is the EXIF data? I have clicked on the images and looked in Properties, I have looked everywhere I can think of and cannot find it. Help please!
By the "I have clicked on the images and looked in Properties" comment I am assuming you're on XP or some other Windows version. In their infinite wisdom, MS has decided to define their own metadata stored somewhere in the system that displays there & basically ignores the EXIF data block. You need some image viewer that understands EXIF. AFAIK BreeseBrowser, Faststone, and Irfanview among others will show you the information. You can also grab ExifTool and the ExifTool GUI to both view and edit the data.
Yes, I'm using Windows - I take it Macs can see this info then? It's not a big deal, I just thought I was being unusually dim and couldn't find something that others could.
If you're using firefox you can see others exif (most of the time) with an add on exif viewer. Most people seem to prefer opanda, but a google search reveals others as well. For viewing your own photo's exif you should be able to view it with Canon's dpp (not 100% sure on that, being a Nikon user) Photoshop, or one of the links Chris gave you.
Thanks for the tips. I can see my own EXIF data as I use Photoshop, my issue was that when I look at photos on FM I often wonder what camera, lens and settings were used to create such great shots and this I cannot see.
So, if I install Firefox and an EXIF viewer should I then be able to view this info? I don't know anything about Firefox, I've always used Windows Explorer. Would I have to uninstall Explorer (can that even be done? Isn't it a part of the operating system?) and use only Firefox? Are there any disadvantages to Firefox?

Yes

Nope, both programs can be used side by side. In fact Firefox will ask you if you want to make it your default web browser. If you select yes, it doesn't screw anything with IE.

Nope, you have many many plugins. I have mouse gestures (right click and move the mouse up, down or sides, depending on what you do you can open a new window, tab or go back and forth). I also have the Accuweather add-on for my local weather. I also have IE Tab (some sites work better with IE, most of the time it's fine), so even if I your in Firefox you can open a IE window tab. It's very customizable.
DIS, I'm on XP myself, so have no idea if Macs see the data natively or not. When working with images I'm either in Breezebrowser, Bibble, or IMatch--all of which have a very good handle on metadata.
