p.1 #1 · is Spyder pro 3 better ?

Hi all, I know it can be confusing with all the technology upgrading so fast.
Now i am about to buy a new monitor calibrator and I've see there is a new version out called spider pro 3 for our monitors.

Is this one a little better or no difference, has anybody used this one yet?

I'm using a del 24" 2407 to be calibrated

I've not used the new unit yet but it is said to be noticeably better and twice as fast. I believe it is the leader of the pack now. I use the Spyder2 and am happy but it leaves a bit too little info in the shadows as per the reviews, but I've been very happy with it. If only I would leave it on the ground or just in the dogs reach so it would get stepped on or ate, I could get the Spyder3

I'm in the same boat and I have two Dell's 2407 too. I've been looking at Spyder3 pro and the EyeOne ver 2.

Here's what I would like to know before deciding which one to buy and perhaps some one here can answer it.

The Spyder3 pro is the latest version (released a few months ago) and it has new features that Spyder2 pro didn't have.

The EyeOne ver 2 is the current version from Xrite but I'm not sure how long has it been since it was updated. Is there a new version soon to be release that might be better than the Spyder3 pro?

So in conclusion I would say this.

I would buy the EyeOne if it has better features (better calibration accuracy, ambient light, supports OSX, WindowsXP, Vista) than the Spyder3 pro. However if there's a new version that is due to be released soon I would wait for it before purchasing any calibrator and make my decision then.

I would buy the Spyder3pro for the same reasons I explained above.

Can someone help?

While I personally prefer the i1, the Spyder3 does a very good job - much improved over the previous generation. I find the calibration a little on the cool side, but very close to the i1.

I think Will Crockett is a good photographer and instructor, but I think he's gone over the edge with this stay away from them at any cost type of posting.

hmmm. My experience is that the i1 is the worst of the bunch. We (during a printing seminar) tested a few and it did the worst job. if you check out coloreyes pro software, they also believe the i1 to be the worst.

Is the spyder3 the top? I don't know. I haven't purchased one yet but may someday. I'll limp along with the spyder2 for a while longer I suppose.

Still i have read the topic posted here and as well try do find the one that works the best, I'm still confused
But thank you and Ill think about which one i can try, one thing i have just thought of is just trying the new spyder3 and if its no good i can stick it on e bay or sell it to a friend and then try something else.

Eizo, LC, NEC, the new Dell "HC" screens, et. al.

Stay away from the apples as they're old tech. I don't know why they don't upgrade them, but.....

I purchased the DTP along with the full Pulse Color Elite software and hardware package for both RGB and CMYK.

If you are referring to the DTP 94, it has been discontinued.

The Spyder3 is the most advanced colorimeter currently on the market. It has a much larger sensor than it's competitors and a seven color detection engine (filters). It also incorporates a full time ambient light sensor. This colorimeter has been designed to accommodate today's wide gamut and LED displays. I have been using Spyder products for six years and this newly engineered Spyder3 has improved the line considerably.

I am using the X-Rite Pulse Color Elite system for profiling and the i1 Display 2 for profiling both CRT/LCD. I was under the impression that the Display 2 was still a DTP 96 with updated software but I could be wrong.

Have used a SpyderPro for a few years and when having an issue discovered their tech support is non-existent.
