These guys are a pain to shoot -very skittish and hunting in some leaf litter so every time I moved they scattered. So I just sat still and waited for them to come to me. Shot between 2 and 3x.

great series indeed! very detailed.
quite scary staring at those things thru a magnified lens
Great series Dalan. I like number 3 the best but number two comes in close second. I think spiders make great objects for macro. They are amazing creatures and really cool looking. The more you get upclose the less scary they seem to be... to me atleast.
Lovely series John, the angle of the third one is perfect, that's my favourite but also like the first, it shows the whole spider well in a good characteristic pose.
Thanks Adrian! I was lucky to get a few decent compositions. Not easy since they are skittish and they don't always sit at an angle that's good for the lens.
Lovely series John - saw my first of the year the other day but haven't tried capturing any yet. I'm determined this year to get some shots of the male's courtship signalling - it's really funny to watch.

What does it look like? The area where I've been shooting lately is teaming with wolf spiders -probably about 20 to 30 per square meter...
