Hi there!

I'd like to enter in the fantastic world of close-up photograpy.

I was thinking of buying the 100mm 2.8 macro but is a little expensive and I really don't know if a can take good photos without a flash or a serious tripod (sorry no money ).

And I always wanted a prime lens so I'd love buy the 50mm 1.4.

But everybody suggest that the 500D is intended to use with long focal length lens.

So, 50mm 1.4 + 500D good deal or waste of money?

thanks!

not a waste, but you can get into macro for about 15 bucks right now!!! buy or make a reversing ring for a 50mm and mount it on the camera. viola! macro. I made one with spare parts in my office. I used a spare body cap, augged out the center, then took a 52mm ring and glued it to the body cap. This lest me mount the body cap to the body and screw in a 50mm 1.8 onto the ring threads.

hope this helps
