I am very new to this side of photography and are looking at getting into some serious macro shooting. First of all I have just seen posted on this forum some mind blowing shots of Dragon Flys shot with a 300mm F4 lense. Can some one please tell a beginer what a tube is? And what is a 500D? I have been tinkering with my 135mm F2L lense and the shots do not even come close to what they should be.
Thanx guys.
Steve.
A 500D is a high quality canon add-on dioptre lens (like a magnifying filter).
A tube is an extension tube which fits between the lens and the camera body allowing you to focus a bit closer. As it has no glass it does not affect the IQ of the lens. Both methods give you an increase in magnification.
Great, thank you for that, I feel like an idiot asking these basic questions but as I said earlier.,, I am very new to this area of photography and have lots to learn.
