p.1 #1 · Image Quality Poor on Website

I recently uploaded my website, (Self Built) and noticed the photo quality was very poor Blurry!! they did not look this way on the editor before uploading. These pics do not enlarge from thumbnails they are constant size a little larger than wallet size, 72dpi JPEG's anyone have a thought on what might cause this problem.

You really need to quit thinking of images in dpi. The only time I think of dpi is when making a print.

For web, think pixels. How many pixels is the image? If you make an image 250 pixels tall, then make it fit in a place thats 375 pixels, then you've enlarged your image by 50%.

The other possibility is what was the compression ratio you used. Did you compress the image in your photo editor, then compress the image again in your web software?

Like nathan said, whats the address to the site so we can see whats going on.

unfortunately the host server accidently deleted my site, I must reupload, but most of the photos on there were 300 x 400 PPI, with a setting of 72 dpi on all of them. On my computer preview of the site, the shots looked great, but once published everything Blurred, even some of the Banner graphics looked a little off.

1. If your host server accidentally deleted your site you need to be looking for a new host!!
2. You keep using the ppi numbers....they mean nothing. Actual pixels are what count. As its been said, if you are fitting 100 pixel photos in a space that is 120 pixels it will be soft.

post a link when you have it.

You know you have to sharpen images downsized for the web too.

If your web server (host) crashed without giving you backup then as others have suggested change the web server provider.

Now you must surely have some .jpg files of your pics --just load it up to a web directory so we can see what the quality is like.

In anycase since you had to upload your stuff in the first place just do it again (hopefully to a different provider).

Doi I get the slight odiferous whiff of "Troll" here --hopefully not.

Cheers
