p.1 #1 · Back deck grabs (4)

My wife always asks...."does that camera HAVE to be on the table all the time?"
Well, yeah! The dining room has a sliding glass door that opens out to my back deck.
I'm typin' away on FM (of course) last eve when I hear the unmistakable call of sandhills.
Jump up, run to the door and fire off a few. This my dear, is why the camera HAS to be
on the table. It's not like someone will come over and go "OMG there's a camera on the table!"
Hang tough, guys.

Thats it Will, I'm moving in too, and not just drinkin (I mean working) with you. Amazing back yard you have there, and beautiful shots to boot.

And that is why there is a table there in the first place

Will, my camera is usually on the dining room table, too, right by the sliders leading to the back deck.
Still waiting for the sandhill cranes to show up, though. Very nice shots, by the way

I wish I had a backyard like that.

My wife also nags me about my camera. "Are you taking your camera to work again?", "Does that camera have to go to the supermaket with us?", and my all time favorite. "Your just taking the trash out. Why the camera too?"

Thanks, Gero! Hey, the trencher does most of the work...a little cuttin' and
fittings...lots of time at the end of the day for drinks/shootin'. I'm a great boss, BTW.

Kluckster, I haven't tried the trash yet...but going out to feed the dogs is definitely
within the scope of "bring it along"... thanks!

Will, my pool table serves the same function that your dining room table serves (usually have at least one camera body out, with several lenses). This is why I'm no good at 8 ball. Unfortunately for me, the cranes just aren't visiting my back yard, here in the midwest.

That's a beautiful view of the Sandhills you have off of your back deck!.....The mountains are nice too!

Always love it when the picture comes to you.

Makes me want to move out west.

I'm sure that somewhere in Webster's there is a definition for "table" that says something about..."a flat surfaced object, with four legs, designed to support camera equipment." I'm sure it's there somewhere.

Great shots against a great backdrop Will, love those small hills in your backyard! I used to hear the same thing all the time......they get used to it after a while.

Pool table!!! Now that's perfect. The lens can go into the pockets, room for 6...
Oh, you're on to something, Dave...thanks!

Thanks, Doug. Those horizon "bumps" are probably 30 miles away but with a tele
they sure seem much closer!

You know, Will, I hadn't thought about those pool pockets before. You are right, they are perfect for holding a nice six pack of lenses. Just wish that I could find a nice 300 2.8 IS to put into one of those corner pockets. Better yet, a nice 500 f/4 would be even better. Might have to get a tad larger pool table, though, or at least one with bigger pockets. I figure when my wife starts getting on me about using the pool table to hold my gear....I'll just move it to the dining room table, instead! : )

Gotta have that camera ready to go at a moments notice. Afterall, you never know when those Sandhill's might decide to migrate over the midwestern plains!

Nice shots! I hope those cranes didn't do what those other geese and little birds do when you are taking their pictures! I don't live that close to the river so I haven't seen much flight traffic since the main flights south a couple of months ago. If it ever warms up I am heading down south. I did take my relatives down last week - I'll give you a call about that trip. Keep that hat on! Steve W

I just don't think it is right that you can take pictures like that right out your back deck. You should, to be like the rest of us, get in the car and ride for a few hours (only to return home) and then take them...

But they are great shots, Will.

Hey Steve, thanks! No hat, or shirt for that matter...felt safe since they were pretty far
away. How'd the family like BdA? shots

Oh, I do that too Glen... Mrs. 'monkey picked out our piece of dirt so methinks
she should take the heat. Appreciate your comments.

good grabs Will,http://i9./6ouar13.gif I am so jealous.

My beautiful thick glass table in my rear dining area holds my laundry, but even if I did keep the camera there, the view out the back is paved parking lot....not trees, just cars
