Interesting image, is that a post photoshop filter you've got going on over your skin?
I'd almost like to see the image with the pattern on your skin projected from the light source. A type of gobo if you will. That could be tricky, but fun, to set up.
It feels very angry, you've got that coming across. I do like the use of the shadow projected on the rear wall.
Yes, It was a photoshop filter. If I had the time to do this to my actual skin I'd have a better shot I think..haha. I'll try and see if I can get a pattern in the shadow. I already tried to apply some horns but that did not work out too well..haha.
If only I could say.. ,"That took hours of glitter and glue..and yes, that is my third nipple." That would be funny.
For me the use of the Photoshop texture alone takes away form the image. I'm not saying a texture wouldn't work with the image, but it needs more crafting so not to appear flat against skin that has depth. I think if you created a PS displacement map based on your skin highlights & shadows, and then applied a texture using the d-map to it, the results would be much better.
As a general rule of thumb, if people spot a filter right away it usually cheapens the image and gives it a very amateurish look.
Either axe the filter and let the shot speak for itself, or really spend some time to merge the effect with the image.
Try making a duplicate layer of yourself without the filter, and add a layer mask. Then go in and paint out areas of the "scales" to make it seem a little more natural. Maybe they only show up in the dark shadowed areas. Also you have very strong directional lighting coming from the bottom, but to me it appears that the emboss effect you used has the highlight coming from the top. Another thing you should do is adjust the color of the effect. Use purples and blues for the darker area and blend them into skin tones in the highlight areas.
