p.1 #1 · Epson 2400 11x17 need help

Printing a sheet of Ilford 11x17 smooth pearl on my epson 2400 all is well a few minutes into the print and then after printing about 2 inches it stops and kicks the sheet out.It has done this twice.Has anyone else experienced this? I double checked and 11x17 is selected and i am printing from the back of the printer like normal. Not using the manual feed or anything like that.

I have never had a midfeed kickout on my 2400. I have printed 11x17,13x19,8.5x11, and even 4x6 and roll media.
Sometimes I need to refeed cause it misfeeds initially but never in the middle.
Are you using the "single sheet" feeder or the regular feeder? After several misfeeds of single sheets I stopped using the "single sheet" feeder because it misfed single sheets more often than the regular sheet feeder.

Joe,
Have you used papers other than Epson?

I use mostly Moab paper. I really don't like the Epson papers. I like their Colorado satine and Entrada fine art. They have a Website and you can order from B&H directly. I even set up their roll on a kitchen rolling pin to feed 13" wide media-works great and the 3" rolls don't curl the paper as much.
Save yourself a lot of effort and use roll media.

Joe,
I am pulling my hair out here and as you can see from my avatar, i cant really spare that much. I have tried several sheets after turning off, unpluging etc. Each time it goes a little farther and then it kicks it out unfinished.

Jim - are you feeding the paper from the rear, like in Joe's picture, or from the sheetfeeder (which is closed in Joe's picture)?

Are you connected via USB or FireWire?

If you're on Windows and using FireWire, don't. Switch it to USB. It's a miracle Windows' FireWire support works at all.

If you're already using USB, try another cable—that's a common symptom of a failed or low-grade cable.

Jim,
Glad it worked out. I had to go photograph a HS Basketball game for my daughter's school newspaper article or I would have got back to you sooner. It does you little good but reinstalling the drivers would have been my next suggestion.
I use Firewire for my Lexar card reader and my 2400 under Windows with no problem.Much faster than USB(400 vs 280 mb/sec).

When my printer, a 2200 does that, it is usually the usb connection. Sometimes it isn't really connected securely. I have that happen occasionally.
