Sweet fellow and nice shots Harsha. Just recently I found a brown hawk owl in my garden and managed to dash out shoot a few frames.
Read one of your posts recently about you upcoming trip to Tanzania. Hope it all works out well and the current unrest in Kenya settles down. Sri Lanka these days is pretty lousy, all the good parks are closed and Yala though now re opened, only a small section on the main road and upto the Uraniya para is allowed. That too I would not venture that way for a while yet. Perhaps I will go to Singharajah for a break.

Beautiful shots. Like # 1 the best, though I have to ask - - Why the play with high ISO?
Which camera were you using?

Hi Lil
The camera is Nikon D3. I had it for about two weeks now. The weather here had been so bad I did not really have time to test the camera. After taking few shots with low iso I wanted to test the high iso performence of this camera. Normally I shoot the lowest possible iso to get the shot.

Hi Mohomed
It is concerning what is going on in SL. I have a summer trip to SL and and yala in the planning stages. Hope things settle down by then. If I cannot go to Yala, few days at Sinharaja will give plenty of opportunities. I will try to contact you when I am there. We can have Sri Lanka FM chapter meeting.
I am also hoheful that things in Kenya calm down by Feb. At least that's what my tour operator is saying.

Hi Harsha,
that explains the superb colors going through the ISOs the D3 is really the only camera I see which truly retains the colors at high ISO
So you picked a good subject for your test.
Congratulations to the D3 - - I settled for the D300
