Kyle,
Totally amazing colors. If I could make a couple comments. First, the scene would become even more extraordinary with a foreground subject like a silhouette of a person or a larger tree. Second, to me the horizon looks slightly tilted. Not sure but I think I saw this shot over the landscape forum too and it looked a little soft there (larger sized image there). I checked your exif and at f4 and 1/40s, ISO100. I wondered if a smaller aperture, longer exposure + tripod and focusing on the tree line would have made the whole scene appear a little sharper.
Oh, and check you image size, need to be 640 pixels wide or it won't qualify.
Good Luck
Christian
Beautiful colors...I rarely see colors like that where I live. Cennerfelt made some excellent observations and suggestions that demonstrate why this site helps everyone improve both technique and composition. Thea

What a gorgeous sunrise shot. You have captured the beautiful colors in the sky very well. Although Christian has offered you wonderful advice and helpful suggestions, you have done a great job. Do follow Christian's advice, however, especially getting a good tripod and using a narrower aperture and longer exposure (you might consider getting a grad ND filter as well). It will make the difference between a nice shot at this size and one that you can print big and proudly hang on your wall.
Cennerfelt, thank you tremendously for the comments and critique, I did fix the horizon, And I will definitely take the aperture and exposure into consideration. The wife wasn't happy sitting on the side of the road, so I didn't get a chance to get out the tri-pod. Also thank s for the advice on focusing on the tree line, as that would make more of a difference on sharpness more so than the clouds. Thank you to everyone, and I always take advice to heart, as many people here have much more knowledge and skill than I. I am just happy to participate, and thank about the 640 pixels as well.
Very nicely done. I believe your decision to modify was a correct one. The updates only enhanced the shot. Love the colors and the crop is perfect. Good luck.
