Thanks everyone for the overly kind remarks! It was really strange to be hiking along and thinking "jeez there is NOTHING out here to shoot" - and then to just be blown away by the light and reflections and to feel totally motivated to take zillions of pictures.
But -- Steve -- get a grip, man! Might have to report you to the FBI or something...
And Ken, do I have to put a big red circle with a crocodile and a red slash through it on every post from now into the indefinite future?
Happy New Year to you too Susan, these are masterful compositions. I especially like No 1 the bird shot and No 3 the trees.
Just goes to show that when the big game is not about there is a lot more to keep one absorbed and enjoy nature in many different ways. If you know of any particular good books on such composition perhaps you can recommend something to me! I've been struggling on this a while.
Nice series Susan. Very artistic and creative - Frans would be most impressed. Was that a hippo eating a crocodile in the 9th one or where is all that blood coming from

Gosh, Mohammed, there are many - but I confess that I just shoot by the seat of my pants, so to speak. I compose in camera, then refine with PS. Guess I'm lucky that my eye simply says "yes" when it's close to right......... Rule of thirds, break it often, leave room when in doubt.
Thanks for all your kind comments!

Tony, hope you are hearing the same "Twilight Zone" music that I am right now -- I was just on the web looking at camcorders. Honestly..... Nee nee nee nee, nee nee nee nee.....

If you're getting a camcorder, can I have the Mark III and the 500mm??

As much as I love your phoro realistic nature photography
I think THIS is the side of your work I find the most creative and interesting.....
Still remembering your panning on the PABaylands images.....
simply wonderful sweetie!!
Thanks for going and sharing....
A great series Susan. The seagulls in fly is one of my favorites. I liked No. 10 also very much but indeed it is difficult to pick the best, at least for me.
I also like to do this whenever I can.
As I said before referring to your zebras, excellent photography!

Love the Mendocino coast. Although we live in NC, my wife and I have stayed at the Harbor House Inn in Elk several times. It is a beautiful area of the country. Lucky you for living so close.
Good grief, that is some eye you have Susan, wonderful out of the box shots. I wish I had more of an imagination, I need a flying bird to take an image
