she wants to do outdoor shoot today. i sez it's cold, dark and raining. she sez 'so?' i sez ok!

800 iso. was really hard not many of the shots came out to my liking. but here's one of the better ones!

capture one's sharpening and noise reduction actually saved some that otherwise wouldnt have worked.

Nice image, Jeff. She looks very different here than in the last images you posted. I think I like this one better.

Please tell me about the noise reduction in Capture One. I have C1Pro but haven't tried noise reduction. I just shot a bunch of sport shots this morning at ISO 1000 and used NeatImage for the noise. Have you any idea how they compare?

Thanks...

Tim

Love her pose!
She also looks a lot more "mature" on this picture.
Great composition by the way

noise reduction is on by default. i just turned it up a notch.

these were with a d60 at iso 800, which is much noisier than the 10d equivalent.

i havent used neat image. i get so much free software a lot of it just piles up on the desk. i prefer to do anything critical like noise reduction and sharpening during the raw conversion instead of outside anyway - just how my workflow is.

yeah she does look more mature here...maybe because she's freezing cold and i told her to look annoyed? hehe. glad you like it.

I love image 1 and image 3 her arms blends into her body too much on image 2.

Best,
James

Sorry, but I don't like the look on her face on the first two pictures. From a technical point of view, I have to say that I like them. Can imagine how hard it must be to shoot at such conditions.

you dont have to like them, but the big dopey grin doesnt sell. serious, mopey, and just about every other emotion does.

Nice shots Jeff, good job considering the conditions! #2 is really cool, she looks more angry that annoyed, but I like it!

Great work Jeff, especially under difficult conditions. Your skill with the tools have produced some fine results.

1 and 3, Excellent as always. In 2, the backround doesn't lend enough color contrast to her lovely skin for my taste.

Was it a full size reflector? f4?

Very respectfully,

-Jim.

f/2.8-f/3.5

not quite full size. although i have a 6' reflector, it's just impossible for someone to hold when there's even the slightest breeze..

thanks for all the warm comments. i'm actually better at outdoor stuff than studio stuff. must have been all those weddings!

Number one is awesome, good work, I would have cropped tighter, to get her closer, but hey ,it's your pic and it looks great.

I know of another guy (still) using a D60 and his stuff blows away most of us 10D users.
