p.1 #1 · Deer in the snow

Finally hooked up with a friend who i have not seen in a very long time took a little drive in the snow and stumbled on a little family. Completely gray sky and snow made for very low contrast

a couple are kinda nice i think

Happy New Year everyone

J

2

gotta love stabilized lenses, using the 300 and dragging the shutter to get the streaking snow and still have the deer be sharp is fun

Beautiful images J. I really like #2 and #4. Nice creamy bokeh on #2 - it almost looks as if there are heat waves coming off the deer in that shot.

Great pictures J - Happy New Year to you too-
I have one similar, but our deer down here don't look anything like the ones you have up there...

I did some experimentation on these Lil, and i did try the flash on some as well. I did not have the flash elevated enough and got some of the craziest looking eyes you have ever seen. I mean the slits in their eyeballs looked like TV screens or alien deer invasion eyes . In this set the only one with flash was the 3rd one. I was just trying to give their eyes a bit of sparkle

You were pretty close to this little family with the 300 Johnny. Nice images. That little buck looks like he is thinking about charging you.

Nice shots John. Thanks for inviting me to tag along. I can't remember when I had so much fun. I'm still processing, but I'm pretty sure I have a couple of keepers. Getting a chance to shoot the 300mm was a thrill and my old 80-200 is no match for the 70-200 VR. It'll be fun to see if there is any difference in the IQ for the two lenses.

Thanks for everything--including the great pictures you post.

Tim
