This is photo my wife shot off our deck in July. She travels with me on my shoots and is getting more and more excited about photography. I was traveling in California on this day and she called me so excited that a mother bear was in our backyard and she grabbed her new Canon XTi and shot it at ISO 400 at 1/200 at f8.0 with her Canon ES17-85IS.
I was thrilled when I saw this picture and wanted her to see what others thought.
Congrats on the shot. I'm still working on getting my wife excited about photography. Sharing the same interest is a great way to spend quality time together.
The mother bear practically posed for your wife, in this shot. Very exciting.
Will, tell your wife great shot! One of the things I've found difficult as I get more into photography is to slow down when I get something exciting to shoot so I don't miss the opportunity to tell a story with the shot. The mother bear's expression as she studies the bird feeder is priceless!
Nice shot! I would be excited also. I hope you and your wife don't get another opportunity like this again. I don't mean sound down but wildlife -- bears in particular become too habituated to humans and they end up getting into trouble. Steve W
Thanks, David. Dawn was breathing so hard when she called me, I thought she was was going to have a heart attack. Thanks!
Luke, Dawn was thrilled with your comment. Thank you.
Alameda - The bears come around often, but mostly in the morning in the pre-dawn hours. We have had no trouble with them so far. Our dogs run them off and their just little dogs.
Guys..not fair! you have bears coming to your backyard! geez The only thing coming around my house (Milan-Italy) is smog!! LoooL plenty of that :-) couldn't even see the moon last night! I agree with the previous poster...she looks very tempted by that bird-feeder :-) Good thing she didn't get her claws on it!
