Had an opportunity to say Hi to a couple of Navy guys, doing landing practice at our local airport. Hoping to send them a couple of prints as a thank you for their service.
Can anyone help me out IDing this chopper? I'm not very familiar with rotor-craft.
The guys fertilizing timberland in this area are back again for a few days. These Air Tractor 802A's are impressive pieces of machinery. They carry a 4700 lb payload of dry fertilizer.
5pm is NOT the ideal time for great photos, but it is good practice for slow shutter panning!
Thanks for the link to the other thread JW. Another massive collection of amazing captures!
Love the A-10 shots in the last few pages. Can't say I've ever seen one in the flesh. Australian airshows seem to get only the most common of aircraft. Would an A-10 have the range to island hop to Australia?
Here's a few of the prop aircraft captures from the Avalon 2005 airshow. All close to the runway sadly due to the short zoom being used. A bit more practice needed with shutter speeds

Harvard?
I'm really enjoying going back through this thread and amazed at the rate new shots are being added. Thanks again for the warm welcome.
Scott.
EDIT: Oh, and the 7D has been great for the litte I've used it. Only really had a couple of outings and I have been just trying to get used to the multitude of settings available, I'll be getting out with the camera as much as I can over the summer and hopefully I'll find aircraft to shoot.
I am sure the P40 would have blown away most people here simply because they are very rare compared to a Mustang. We are lucky to have one in Australia. The Boomerang is a bit of a laugh as well!
Not had much time to contribute but can't kick the habit of checking in every few days to catch up on all the great shots being posted.
Had some Warthog shots handy on my photobucket account so thought I'd chuck them into the mix to prove I'm still alive! Got some exciting projects lined up for 2010 so hopefully I'll share some new stuff with you then.
Hello DrScott, about that great Quantas Connie you posted:
"Connie" - Super Constellation in QANTAS colors.
The History Channel or the Discovery Channel had the story about the (mostly retired) Quantas Mechanics who came up to the US to restore her to flying condition. It was quite a technical challenge, and they did a fantastic job. Great to see she is continuing to fly proudly. That is a bit of history you captured. Thanks for showing it.

FANTASTIC!! Thanks Kevin. Love that night shot. When did you take those "Texans" shots?
Thanks! Those shots were from December 07. I was extremely fortunate that they had all the flyers parked out in the open from the usual shelters due to construction work, sometimes luck is on my side!
I worked out there as a crew chief and a few other areas after I got to old to jump on wings. 1972-1994. F-102, 1-101, F-4, F-16. Plus our T-33, C-54, T-29, and C-131.
I got on your ramp back in October 1993 during the WOH airshow weekend, when you had a T-Bird F-16B and a F-117A parked down there. I also shot your squadrons F-16B before it was lost in an accident, I think in 94. All on slide somewhere, one day I'll get them scanned, I keep telling myself!
