Here is a fun one I ran across in my library. It's a picture of me in my DG-303 taken by my dad (hence the name). It is a blast to fly and very affordable, unfortunately your only good for about 300 miles and can't take the family. I sold this glider last year to get something that would fit the family :-(

"Ruff Stuff". Warbird restorer par excellence, Nelson Ezell is about to put another one of these back in the air. Gunny said they were doing taxi tests a few weeks ago. I'm hoping to get in the air with it at some point.

Hey Jim that P38 that Ezell is restoring is the former Lefty Gardner P38 it's now owned by Red Bull (Flying Bulls) so the color scheme will probably be polished aluminium and Red Bull Markings.
Here you can find some info
http://www.ezellaviation.com/p38.htm
Don't know if the P38 is coming to Europe to join the rest of the Red Bull fleet.

HI Jan-Arie,

Yup, Lefty and his son have been friends for years. That 38 was a mess when they pulled it out of the cotton field. I don't know what the plans are for it, but we're hoping to shoot it air to air with The Prowler as a platform before it goes very far.

Hi! Some stunning photos in this post! I love it.
I usually post in the N & W Forum, but, living in Pensacola, I never miss an Airshow. This is my contribution to this thread. I hope I'm not intruding, and may be you will enjoy some of my pictures.

This was taken at the last Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow, a couple of months ago.

That's cool. I still can't get over the fact that Air Force planes have tail hooks....too weird.

Aardvark!!!!

I was driving past the boneyard in Tucson last week and saw row upon row of F-111's lined up. Also saw the first of the B-1's and C-17's being put to storage. I love the F-111, thanks for posting this.

What do they do with all those stored planes? Keep them in case of some future war? Use them for parts? Or what?

I really need to get down there one of these days...

Shasoc,

This is a great capture of the pyro they had this year. I was there and was unable to get anything I was really happy with when it came to the pyro.

Here's one of Skip Stewart and Prometheus that I got on that Saturday.

I used to keep it just outside of San Diego in a place called Warner Springs. Great environment for soaring. I was flying the ridge that runs from Warner Springs to the Mexican border and my father was standing on that ridge at a fire observation tower.

Rodolfo - Most of them are stored for future requirements, if needed. If the fleet is still operating a stored type, then some are used for parts and scrapped. Tucson is really dry, so they can seal the planes and they actually withstand it pretty well, except for the paint. Here is a pic I pulled off of Google Earth showing all of the F-111's
