Jim,

I read that the 120MP canon is designed for "security" operations - think airborne surveillance.

Also with regards to the 8K a lot of the Japanese TV companies have started gearing up for 8k.
A prog on the BBC suggested that some were considering skipping 4k & going straight to 8K if the tech could keep up.

Just got an email from Zeiss alerting me to a new line of glass that they have created. What is really cool about this particular line of lenses is a de-click option. If someone wants to use these great lenses in a cinema application, you just use their tool to de-click the aperture, turning it into a smooth and stepless cinema lens. Now that is really thinking ahead!

Yes, it's a pretty cool feature. Zeiss's Loxia lenses for Sony FE mount have it too, not sure if it's also available in the Batis series for FE.

As for this new line, called Milvus, only the 50mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.4 are really new design, the other four lenses are "repackaged" ZE/ZF design.

Mark, I think you are referring to the BBC article for the 250 mp sensor:

""Their large size means you can only read them once every few seconds, so they are only good for specialised applications such as astronomy or surveillance."
Canon said the sensor could shoot video but only at five frames per second - far slower than the rate needed for a film.
However, it added, the video clips it captured were 125 times more dense than those in standard HD video and about 30 times the resolution of 4K video.
Dr Stefanov said it was possible to build bigger sensors, and some of these had found roles in very specialised applications such as hospital X-ray machines, where the sensor replaced the photographic plate that captured the image."

Today was the day they Remembered the Battle of Britain.
The fighters flew from goodwood the former RAF Westhampnett.
Marcel and I shot together with Niall, very nice to meet Niall and put another face to a name.
I think I almost got all airworthy spitfires on photo now
The one who travelled the furthest was the Seattle based Spitfire flown by John Sessions.
On the photo the Dutch Mk IXc and a nice Hurricane fresh from paint I believe don't know who owns it

The light really improved by take-off time didn't it.
It was looking very gloomy during the morning.

Where were you guys standing?
I started directly at the end on runway 24 but we were moved on and i ended up to the right of the runway with all aircraft banking left on takeoff

Anyone going to Duxford at the weekend?
Are you going Dux side or field side?

I didn't get around to booking tickets so will be attempting to get into the field

Just a little of center to the right of the grandstand of 24 we will be at Dux but on the field looks like you were standing almost at the same location we were just left of the scaffolding tower.
