Nothing quite says drag racing in America as a orange, 1955, blown, straight axle, 4-speed Jericho shifted Chevy Gasser.

This thing was stunning.

Have you read 'A Higher Call' by Adam Makos?
I have no family connection to the WWII aviators but this story moved me to tears, highly recommended if you haven't read it.

Great afternoon in QinetiQ car park - far from being "moved on" this time the place was packed with locals plus two ice cream vans and there was nowhere to park by the time I arrived. I was stopped by a security man, who I expected to tell me to park somewhere else, but no! he said "Just put it on the edge of the roundabout, there's nowhere else left"
Anyway, here are a few from today at Farnborough International. I know the "Connie has frozen props but it did two very quick circuits and it was the main reason I went today, as I have never seen it in the air!

Ok, 3 versions. Which one? I play with HDR stuff, but always worry that I go too far. First one is just minor stuff, then more HDR, then BW.

They all look terrific to me Tim. But a vintage Gasser just looks "right" in monochrome. Excellent work.

I like the second color image Tim, not at all over HDR'd, it simply pops.

So I am at this RC fly in and I am looking at this P-51 coming at me in the 600 and all of the sudden I just crack up! I was chuckling the rest of the day...........Now this is the perfect way for Mr. Wilson to do his 51, even if it is a RC version........look at the squadron markings on the side, perfection, T for Texas and JW for well, get it? Now he might not like the Old Boy on the side of the nose, but that could be changed to Good Ol' Boy! I tried to explain to the owner he had the helmet painted wrong, but he did not see my humor!

Ambri is an old airport, southern to the alps, pretty close to the Gotthard Pass (plus railway and highway tunnels). It used to be a Swiss Airforce base for decades, being home to De Haviland Vampires and Hawker Hunters. Once the Hunters were retired it was slowly abandoned. The airport currently only host a bunch of civil aircraft.

Up to the late nineties it used to host some cool airshows, the location made them special, since the landing strip is located inside a long alpine valley.

In 2013, thanks to a sponsor, a much smaller event was launched, this is not a full fledged airshow, but it gives an opportunity to see some cool historical planes and plenty of civil aircraft.
I missed the event in 2013, but I was there in 2014, very poor weather prevented planes from crossing the Alps, but I managed to snap a few shots and felt it was worth the trip.

That's funny Michael! We had more Mustang discussion over the weekend. I have this sneaking feeling that there is going to be a Mustang in our hangar regardless of my paranoia. Weebeesee. I could always plant Geraniums in it and set it out front.........
