Well Zim, if we had a "Do you want the shot, or not?!" Traveling trophy (now isn't that a neat idea?!!!!) it would most certainly be awarded to you this week. Sorry that you were unable to capture your elusive Vulcan air to air, but your tenacious dedication is admirable.
Thanks, Jim. The forecasters got it right: solid low overcast and drizzle all across the south of England today. The Vulcan launched out of Doncaster, up north, but RTB'd without ever making it to the sites down south where it was expected to display.
I'd been given a pass to Little Gransden's air-and-car show today, but after evaluating the forecast and knowing that I had to be on site before 10am and wouldn't be able to leave until after the event finished around 5pm, I elected instead to spend the day at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, which I hadn't visited back at the beginning of July when I attended Flying Legends by hiking into the Naughty Field. What a rich aviation heritage the Brits have! One of my favorite exhibits was the Operations Room from 1940. Duxford was spared any serious damage from German raids through the war, and this Ops Room is the best-preserved example remaining. I'll post some photos later.
