Jeff, your "vision" never ceases to amaze...

Sold this and another RV A2A to an aviation-themed hotel in Port Aransas, TX.

They have an "RV Room" and at 16x24, on metal, these should anchor the room nicely!

Been thinking about this since Zim began creating with his, glad I held off. Just preordered at B&H a few minutes ago. Scares me though, it's not made out of foam! At this point, is it, or is it not legal to make money with it?

Jim,

At this moment, I believe that the FAA restrictions prevent you from making money with a quadcopter. However, it may be worth your while speaking with your local FAA office to get some advice.

The FAA were overturned on a fine they laid on a commercial operator, just recently. I suppose we will see how this all pans out in due course.

Thanks Jay.

Is this RV image some of your A2A work? Normally harsh glare is a nemesis I avoid like the plague, but you used it like fine diamonds to create a thing of beauty in this image, Terrific work

Thanks Mark, but "speaking" to the FAA is kind of like speaking to the IRS, to be avoided at all costs.

Adobe just released an update for Lightroom that allows for mobile editing with a free iPad app, for those folks using Creative Cloud. I'm just syncing some photos, will report back in a bit...

The quadcopter/drone thing is a mess right now. For a few moments the one case where the judge threw out the FAA regulations as not being official law had those of us who want to get into the biz very excited. The FAA appealed it though which means we just have to wait for now. I can tell you there are more companies out there making TONS of money than any agency has the time or resources to track down.
One local company has several very top-shelf camera ships ($15k-$40k per rig) and flies any camera up to a Red Epic with cinema glass for national and international TV shows, commercials, docs, etc. They have no waiver or license of any kind and "fly" under the radar.
As I'm a pretty decent RC pilot and videographer it's really annoying to follow the rules sometimes! grrrrr!

Here's some rough footage I did recently with just a Phantom 2/GoPro rig. Had 15-20mph winds too! Done for a friend who works at the facility at no charge…well…they bought me dinner!

However, the FAA has appealed that decision which stays everything so it's still "as was" in regards to commercial use.

Truer words were never spoken. I am in the third month of dealing with the FAA over my new airplane and all I can tell you is that we're not done yet.

Meanwhile, Marcia and I are in NZ for three weeks. The patch of blue sky that we saw when we landed at dawn on Tuesday in Auckland was replaced by drizzle before our onward flight to Blenheim. Here in the Marlborough wine district said rain and accompanying low clouds/fog are, apparently, home to roost for the winter. The locals tell me it hadn't rained since time out of mind, so they're all wandering around with smiles on their faces and letting the rain fall on their uncovered heads, as if to replenish their personal supply of moisture. The forecast for the entire South Island offers no relief from the gloom even ten days out. We denizens of the high inter-montane desert are not used to this.

Today, just up the road four miles at Omaka the young Royal couple, William and Kate are expected to tour the Aviation Heritage Centre with Sir Peter Jackson, and they're supposed to put on a public flying display of the WWI fighter replicas (and presumably the resident Yak-3 and FW-190). But I just saw a Super Cub with tundra tires fly by at about 400' AGL, scud running, so that's probably not on. With the forecast as it stands I have to wonder how much flying will get done over Easter weekend at Warbirds Over Wanaka, where I've signed on as a book photographer along with Phil McKanna, Wayne Cook and Gavin Conroy.

On the plus side, the grass in front of our accommodations in a Pinot noir vineyard here in Blenheim has gone from brown and crispy to a lush green; and our skin is soft and smooth, not to say prune-like, at least not yet.
