By the way, did anyone else see that Peter Lik's B&W photo of Antelope Canyon recently sold to a private buyer for $6.5 million? That ain't chicken feed, folks.
Clearly, I lack the self-promotion gene. But I do think it unkind, nay offensive, of the critic quoted in the piece, who dismisses B&W photography as a 'deliberate use of an outmoded style'. Them's fighting words, IMHO.

Well yes I did. I'm not worried about the price paid for the photo – it's worth whatever someone is prepared to pay. Have to say I'd need to be worth a LOT of money before I'd drop $M6.5 on a nice photo of antelope canyon. Oh, did you see the bit about a 950 piece “limited edition”? I had a smile at that.
As for “deliberate use of an outmoded style”. Is the guy saying B&W is a style? Well using that logic – how could it not be deliberate? Did the critic harbour the idea that Lik hit the convert to B&W button by mistake? Oh, and is the critic implying that all that B&W work made before colour was a practical proposition, is now outmoded?
So all that said – here is my bargain basement offer – must be worth $6.5?
