Thanks Glenn. I'm partial to the last shot too. I just wish I would have had a bit more reach to resolve the vapor along the leading edges a bit better. At first I thought the image was distorted because of the curve of the wings, but I noticed it in a few other shots too. Those wings noticeably bend when he's really hustling that plane around!

Nick,

Nice Concorde image. You've done well there given the constraints of that hangar.

Thanks Mark! I needed to do very little with it – the daylight from the roof windows lit the “British Airways” bit just right. The rest of the space has very subdued lighting – mainly pools of light from spots. A bit of a problem to white balance, which explains why the B&W works so much better. Well, in my head it does!

Great images Erich! Every year I realize that the Photo Pit is really a better vantage point than being out underneath the performers . Next year, when I'm not shooting special projects, I think 'm going to shoot the whole show from the tower catwalk.

Thanks. That'd be a great place to shoot from! Cool unique angles and nobody's head in front of you.

James, that's a lot to deal with; I hope your rehab from back surgery goes well, and that Baby #3 arrives after the weight lifting restriction expires...

Steve,

Thank you for the supportive words. Baby is due any day now. Could be this AM or next week. #1 & 2 weighed under 6 lbs when they came out. So, I think I will be OK, as it relates to holding Baby #3. The first two were preemie, and this one will be too.

Good to hear from you James! Heal quickly!! Congratulations on your pending new arrival.

Jim,

I miss being on the page, but with not shooting, I don't feel that I have anything to contribute, and thus I have been absent. Recovery wise, I am hoping that I heal quickly. However, my NeuroSurgeons told me that realistically, I am looking at 6 mos to a year to fully recover. Much appreciate the Congrats. I will be sure to post some pixs once Baby Eaton is here.

Good on you for waiting to see what pops out, too, I would do the same if I had a child. Why spoil the surprise? :-)

Jo,

Thank you for writing. While Spinal Surgery was definitely the lesser of two evils, the pain I experienced the first week after post op was the most intense pain I have ever experienced in my lifetime. Regarding the kiddos, we found out what we were having with our 1st Born, but it wasn't as much fun as we thought it would be finding out, b/c everything was planned out in advance. It took away from the element of surprise. So with our 2nd Child, we didn't find out and we had a blast. So for #3, we are doing the same thing. Though many people say they can't do that, and they would go crazy. My wife & I are kinda sorta Old School.

Not much picture-wise, but I thought it was kinda neat how the pitch rate makes it look like he has a curved prop.

Wow, a high pitch rate can make the prop blur look like that?!

I certainly hope it's an illusion, because if his prop is actually bending like that...

Different version of one I already posted, as the sun just crests the horizon.

Just off the end of it. Two F-15s and two F-16s all launched flares, but not in any sort of order, so it was just luck if I was looking at the right one.
