Wrapped up a project that I have been working on for a couple of months, on and off. The client is entering it in a very prestiguos architectural competition, and on a really tight deadline. They wanted sizzle, and with a great deal of help from The Keeper of The Stars, sizzle I captured. In the span of tonight's twilight, I scrambled and captured a half dozen (personal record I think!) striking images along the lines of this one..........

And about six more. The D810 is panting in it's case tonight, but it did exactly what it was designed to do. Thank you Lord, and thank you Nikon.

Looks like we're going to have gorgeous fall weather and light winds for the next week to ten days. Picture perfect for AFW 2014.

I was at the Apple store yesterday picking up an iPhone 6 that had been tucked away for me. I "ordered" a new iMac from my buddy during the keynote that was going on as we configured my phone. I would have ordered two of them, but you wonder if that display might be a little too real for still image viewing and editing. Certainly will be killer for video work I would think.

The line for the iPhone 6 was out the door and down the mall at every Apple location in the metroplex yesterday. Great phone, I installed Camranger on it and put it to work yesterday afternoon instead of using my iPad.

Noticed a Tesla store in NorthPark Mall as I walked to Apple, Zim's car was in the window.

Although I don't think I can match (or even come reasonably close) to Jim's wonderful images, I did get out and exercise the ole D700 a bit.

I took the opportunity the get a few snapshots of St Louis while on a business trip. Although I did bring the tripod and geared head, I was politely informed by a couple of locals that wandering around alone at dusk/dawn with something that looks expensive was not the brightest thing to do. Not being from that town and not having brought the -ahem- 'personal protection' due to corporate policy, I opted to just make do with the late afternoon handheld scouting shots. It rained the remainder of my time there. Nothing against St Louis, I thought it was a neat town and I had a lot of fun at the Cards/Dodgers game later in the evening.

Oh, by the way - I did get that 24mm PC-E and LOVE it.

You have to get a pic of this don't you?!?

A test shot of a local place of worship that I am very fond of . I am still working on which composition is best and am leaning toward the one with the included pic - dang trees getting in the way everywhere else. The only issue is the exterior light timer decided enough was enough and shut off the lights. Oh well - it is a practice shot anyway (I did learn something though).

I did my best to keep the verticals vertical using a bit of shift on the 24 PC-E.

I also ordered a new iMac Retina 5K, Jim. I'm excited to edit and view still images on it, and look forward to learning a little more about 4K video, too.

I'm surprised I haven't convinced you to pull the trigger on a Tesla Model S, Jim. The new ones, with AWD and autopilot features, look like winners. The S85D comes with two, 188hp motors, front and rear: it's the 'sensible' Model S. The P85D is a monster, with a total of 691hp: 470hp in back, 221hp in front. Can you say, 'cat shot'? The beast will have to come with HANS restraints, standard.

Hi Zim,

Should be an incredible addition to the iMac line up! I think I'm out on a Tesla. Absolutely love my new Landcruiser. Loved my previous two, but this one is the best car I have ever owned, at 70 you can't hear it running and the sound system is wonderful. As far as my distinguished sporty wheels, we can talk about that when you get here, but I've committed to something classically British. Bottom line is, I guess that is why there is more than one auto manufacturer

Hi Billy,

What direction does the elevation that you show in your image face? Exterior lighting timers and sensors are always a pain in the neck. See if you can get someone to override the timer for you and turn everything on an hour before you think you might need it. Based upon what you tell me direction wise, I might have some help for you.
