Wow - they sure repaired it fast! I've never seen that one in person but I sure do love the Corsair - probably more so than the Mustang (am i allowed to say that here? lol)

Sweet venue for an airshow. Did you go to Hawaii just for the show?

Not exactly...I knew I was going to take a week off somewhere around my birthday, looked at the airshow calendars and started checking flights, flights from Calgary to HNL were DIRT cheap. like $482 round trip including taxes, so F-22 demo, C-17 Demo, Blue Angels and Honolulu was an easy sale for me.

That being said, Hickam is just plain old not a good venue for an airshow. They're obviously not going to shut down HNL, so instead there are HUGE breaks between the performers. The C-17 demo flew at 1:30pm, and the blues didn't take off until 4:00pm, and there was nothing in between...due to the location there's not a lot of possibility to get a civilian performer to do anything (as most of them couldn't get out here without military transport), and honestly the commercial traffic was so heavy that I just don't see it as being possible regardless.

Apparently they do a show at Kaneohe bay on alternating years, which is on the north side of the island, which is a little better suited to it. So maybe next year I'll have to come back for that.

Don't get me wrong, I would still come back to HNL for a show in a heartbeat. It's awesome here.

Do they still insist on "Intent To Publish" before allowing access?

That's what's kept me from even bothering to try...

There are many there who I wonder where there stuff is. Some of mine may end up in Warbird Digest again, and I know that the IF1 folks will be using some.

I can think of one person in particular who brought an "assistant" and I'm seriously wondering how the assistant even got past the gate...

(Well, I'm pretty sure I know how she did it, but the why escapes me completely...)

That's the one that burned me about MotoGP Austin. I was sitting outside the fences, and yes, there's some sensational talent inside them, but there's also some people wandering around that got media credentials based on false pretense and are wandering around with D3100's with 18-105's

It's a privately owned "toy" kept in a hangar at Falcon Field outside Phoenix and I guess the owner brought it out for a play day. Buddy of mine called and invited me to tag along and shoot. The original plan was to park a plane next to it as well, but the plane owner had to beg off.

That's a Chieftain:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chieftain_tank

This actually bring a question I was pondering since quite some time, should we have a thread like this, just dedicated to tanks and military vehicles? What do you think about it?

No need to say, I could bring plenty of pictures. I just want to check if other people would be interested too.

Here's an interesting post on The Literate Lens site about the dying art of darkroom printing and Magnum's master print maker, Pablo Inirio.

This may be the one and only tank I ever shoot, so I wouldn't call this a trend. Besides, (I think) we're about photography in general first here and specific subjects are secondary. It just so happens that the vast majority of subject matter is aviation...

If you were to hang big enough engines on this, it would fly! Witness the Phantom II!
