Steve, unfortunately even at 100% the Remos isn't recognizable in my runway shot.

Jay, yes that's me in your second Remos shot. You are hitting them out of the ballpark!

Apparently the new 200-400 lens is making many a Canon shooter go all weak at the knees.

Erich

Thumper truck?

Jay, the magnetic variation there is 8 degree east. Those tracks are more like 30 degrees from being parallel to the section lines (which are lined up on True cardinal points).

Wrei, I don't think it can be single farmer's GPS calibration because it's so extensive and so regular, and the pattern overlays the roads, fields and fences it encounters.

Galveston Gal went into Galveston Bay from relatively low level shortly after take off. Kind of points to an engine problem then a very dicey ditching in the bay. Gives me the chills just thinking about it.

Unfortunately, this is the dark side to my warbird affection that I choose to ignore most of the time. God comfort their families.

If you fly them, you can't ignore it, just be attentive to every detail you possibly can and accept the calculated risk. Like I said in an earlier post, look through the history of every Mustang on the Warbird Registry and you'll see dreams realized, dreams crushed, over and over in each serial number. Sobering, but you love what you love. My buddy Matt Byrd said it in his concise military manner, "We know the risks in what we do..."

This little jet has a core group of people who shower it with TLC like no other Talon has ever experienced. It's a privilege to be a part of that tight knit clan........

I'm a first time poster here, but Glenn told me about the thread after we did the 2 x P-51, Me262 shoot from the B-24 earlier this year. I do however check the site and the latest photos everyday and it is quite impressive stuff! I learn new things everyday, several of which I hope to try this weekend at the Houston show! If anyone here will be there, come and say hi at the Collings Foundation A-4 and F-100.

I'll post some photos later but I wanted to add something about Galveston Gal. The airplane went into a small, shallow lake, about 15 miles from the airport. She may have had engine issues, only time will tell, but at 15 miles away, they were certainly well established after take-off. One report I heard even mentioned that they had left Galveston and headed up to Intercontinental before heading back down to Galveston. I simply can not imagine what happened up there and a few of my Mustang pilot friends can't either, but it is certainly a sad day around these parts. I can't even begin to think what the Lone Star guys are going through right now and I hope they make it through ok.
