Now picture 30 of them on a straight-deck carrier...

Yes, the mind boggles.

I've signed a very interesting contract today. It has a couple of contingencies in it and needs some more pixie dust to become final, so I can't provide any real detail yet, but if I tell you it will (hopefully) represent a new chapter in my little family's life (and is not business-related) you'll get the picture. I'm exceedingly happy.

More as soon as I can share it.

I just published a video using footage from a wing-mounted camera during my recent flight from Seattle's Boeing Field to Pullman, Washington.

Here's an anonymous mountain at the edge of the Bighorn Basin in Wyoming. Unknown to me, that is: I'm sure it has a name.

Really nice video Steve, its looks like you a great day to fly. Your camera window, its that something you did or did it come that way?

I'm not sure, but I have been to several seminars where they do some things with Photoshop to work the videos. I'm headed to one Monday, here in the DFW area, I'll let you know. Thanks for the pix's...

I think Mark McGrath has been using Photoshop CC to edit video. I've only played with it briefly, so can't really help.

You can do basic cuts & dissolves in CS6 or CS 2014.

Choose "Timeline" for your workspace in the upper right (Photography, Typography, etc...)

Thanks, Lynn. Pipistrel created the extra-large camera window for the round-the-world airplane a few years ago. It's a factory option for all new airplanes.

I'm still in the stone age with CS5 and LR 4.4. That will change with the 7DmkII next spring though. I'll go to LR 5 to be able to covert the RAW files.

Another annual report gig is in the can and I'm kicking back at HQ. One of my favorite people, who also happens to be a top dog at Canon is headed this way for lunch.

I had better start polishing this place up for the dignitaries arriving in October.

First off, sorry about the multiples of the same image and size, but I need to pick the brain trust here. I'm running into something while processing my D810 files I haven't noticed before on other cameras. Either that or I'm just getting more critical. Below is the full frame and a 100% crop. Whenever I try to resize crops that have fine detail such as the pilot's names along the canopy frame, the lettering turns to crap. The resized close crop in my previous post is an example of what I mean. I've tried all sorts of different resize strategies in my Photoshop CS6, but no joy. Is it even possible, or am I just running out of pixels to represent too much detail?

Erich

I really don't see anything to complain about in the resized close crop, Erich. You're squashing text into too few pixels to expect it to result in good readability, but the image still looks sharp.
