Erich you are doing some outstanding work my friend! Yes, The Blues fly tight, but then those guys are used to finding a pitching postage stamp in crummy weather at night, so nothing much phases a Naval Aviator.

I think the best quote I've heard on that one was actually a personal one...

I was at the JRB Show in April and it was getting pretty windy, and I remember that the Thunderbirds have a maximum amount of wind that they'll fly a show in...I spotted one of the blue angels PAOs wandering the crowd and asked if they were still going to be flying with the wind. His response? "Yes sir...we're the navy"

Gorgeous canvas John; great work.

I was able to play a little hooky this afternoon and caught one of those big Russian girls (i.e. Antonov An-124) arriving at KIWA. I'm confident she stopped to pick-up a few tamales for the home boys

We drove up BC's Fraser Canyon earlier this summer to visit friends. And while there wasn't a lot of aviation going on, we did stop to watch some of the helicopters operating out of the Boston Bar emergency strip. I kind of liked this shot as it included the helo, it's Bambi bucket, and the ground crewman.....

And speaking of Bambi and friends .....

And sort of returning to an aviation theme. I'll admit to this being a pretty heavy crop but I like it, mostly because I'm reminded and humbled by the grace and majesty of these birds every time I see one. Any time I think I'm beginning to get a little to comfortable with my own flying skills, I just look for one of these to watch for a while and I'm reminded just how far I have to go.

Been a good week over here. Late summer good warm weather has delayed the onset of autumn. Lazy, hazy days, little wind . and lots of hot air from the politicians it ever was thus.
Thea and I had a significant celebration on Wednesday. I celebrated 33 years of being very lucky she celebrated 33 years of successful child care.......

Always great to see the warbirds in the air, but I wish the folks from the Yankee Air Museum realized that straight and level passes right over the runway are just not very picturesque or engaging, even if they open the bomb bays and have a few small explosions making noise. Just a bit of bank, please!

Steven I had the same conversation, on the same ramp with a Navy F/18 jock. It was drizzling, visibility was horrible, all the other demo people had headed for shelter and pretty much written off the show. I introduced myself to the pilot, asked what the plan was from that point. He looked at me and said, "Sir, we are Navy pilots, we fly in [email protected] everyday and night, I'll be firing her up very shortly!"

Congratulations, Jay! I'll keep an eye out for it.

J-A, love the way those Red Arrows seem to be sucking plasma out of the sun! Beautiful shot.

Shot 4k in the Columbia River Gorge today. Wish I had a minute to spare I'd go out to Waldport and buy Bobl and his bride dinner. One of these days!
