Thanks Jim
Yep 1.3TB with of images..its a bitscary really.
I have just been looking through them over the last day or so just scratching the surface.
Steve the LAX stuff is from a chopper.
The guy who flies the R44 is a legend. As are the tower staff at LAX generally being super accommodating even passing traffic info along for the complex on the other side.
Brilliant place to shoot from the afternoon was harder than the morning the Robbo doesnt like hovering in a tailwind at all.
Dusk stuff was brilliant..

Wow, you really got your money's worth from those chopper flights.

1.3 TB?! Were you on your own for this trip, or is your spouse/family just really understanding?

Can you say..."back up, back up, back up?!"

So you can charter an R44 to shoot those perspectives? When are we going Zim?

May be an X, or a Phenom 300, those ok? The 12 is going to take 12 weeks to Wilsonize.

I finally got to spend some time, not nearly enough, at the Evergreen Air and Space Museum in McMinnville, OR. this last week. What a great place!!.
Here are a couple pics that I have done so far.

Thanks for looking, Ron

Very cool Al! Give us the technical details surrounding those images................

Thanks Jim,
its pretty easy in theory,...the actual equipment is harder to source...

2.5s @ F8/ISO160.....car speed 5/10mph
Shot with 7D & 10-22mm Sigma lens, attached to a pole mounted on the car.
PS to remove pole from image.
I'lI dig up a non PS image n see if theres a BTS pic of it happening.
The Boom is 4.5metres /14.75 feet.

Basically goes like this ...Boom is attached to two HD suction cups on car, then clamped to Boom, magic arm on end of Boom attached to 7D (no grip) with 10-22 lens, remote to fire....

Wow, lots of cool stuff this morning! Darren, what a fabulous voyage you made. And you certainly did good in Alaska and LAX! I love that first landing shot you posted, with the vapor and mist.

Some people call that an A2A mission too. Not sure I would go that far though.

To my MA2A friends who might feel frustrated about this business in Syria, I offer this quote from one much wiser than I: "Do not expect the world’s solutions to the world’s problems to be very effective". It might be we are looking in the wrong places for a solution to this problem. Reading this helped reorient my thinking and provided a measure of comfort. Have a great day

After some catching up on my MA2A reading, I'm very humbled by the recent image posts and the opportunity I have to vicariously rub shoulders with such talented shooters. Great stuff all JB, Ron, Al, and Darren.

@Darren - As someone that has been trying his hand at a little LAX photography lately, your helo shots are truly inspiring. I'd heard rumors about helicopter opportunity at LAX and your images confirms this option in spades. What lens did you find most useful for the images from the R44? I'd likely be shooting with my 5D3. As you can tell, I'm already scheming
