+1, The B17 and P47 really rock for me but all 4 are excellent.

Razor 17 invited me down for a little get together at Lancaster airport today, and I would have liked to taken him up on it. When I finished my early morning assignment, and then a quick meeting after, the mercury was rapidly headed to the expected 106 degrees, and I began rapidly losing the desire to be outside.

Thanks Lynn, we'll do it another time.

I had to depart around 12:30 today and the temp gauge in the truck said 109, yes it was time to go...

A couple from todays scorcher in Lancaster. If I am to believe my car, it was 110 when I left.

Great to see Chevrolet back in drag racing. The new COPO Camaros are just bad ass looking race cars.

I'm a bit late getting this out, but in the realm of better late than never, I'd like to extend an invitation to the A2A folks to do some G2T (ground to tree) shooting.

I plan to spend a couple of weeks in and around Crested Butte Colorado shooting fall colors during late September and would like to invite any of you who have an interest to join in.

We have a spare room and a pull out couch in our mountain home that we would like to share. PM me if you are interested.

J-A, that means "Wow, those are fantastic!" And I agree. My favorites of that set, with the B-17 at the top.

I remember back to the days when I was in the NDARNG as a medic .. we'd fly to the different companies across the state giving flu shots .... I really liked strappin' into that side seat for those trips w/ doors open !

Another MD Airport day ..

She has a sweet lil ride here

So as not to get called out on the differences of these planes .. I've labeled them this year - They came in this weekend to familiarize themselves with the airspace for the upcoming EASTON AIRPORT DAY and their flyover demoes.

They want to get it right .. as they don't use radios during their formation flying .. so they walked it out their choreographed formation flight.

So I see this R22 often, and today find out from the young pilot that they shoot high end property around Maryland - He's been flyin' this 22 for four (4) years and he hopes to get into a chopper with AC / air conditioning So I asked him, like the Sikorsky that was in the other day. He said he hadn't seen it, but they had radioed him saying they SAW HIM ON THIER RADAR and were wondering if he saw them or something .. but he was blown away they were at the Delaware Race Track and were seeing him around the Chesapeake Bay Bridge area !! Like .. You Have Radar !! So these guys shoot residential . no gyro so they came in early cuz it was pretty windy up there.

But my question is on this poor grab ...... what's the guy shooting with ? 300mm ? and is he WiFi'ng it straight to a computer hard drive or Cloud with that hotshoe attachement ??

He's shooting a 100-400. That might be GPS on the hotshot. Wifi attaches to the side. Tough way to make a living, especially if he is shooting on spec. The R22 is a couple of hundred grand, the Augusta is 4M. R22's around here are about 300 an hour, 44's/600, Robinson Turbines/$1400. That's "wet". The guys who shoot on spec shoot, then have to go knocking on does to sell what they shot. All in all it's a very tough way to make any money given the cost of the helicopter and the ground time involved. A good business plan is to have a large client list so you can be shooting for a half dozen clients while you're up, then you can make some pretty good money in an hour. I've had scenarios where 5 to 6 grand in an hour were fairly easy goals. I'm generally in a $2,000/hr platform, but some of that evens out due to speed between sites.

Curtis,

the hot shoe attachment looks like a remote flash trigger. It wouldn't surprise me if the individual keeps it permanently mounted to his camera.

How many of you when converting the files, change the aspect ratio to 16:9?

The "radar" they were talking about was most likely TIS/TCAS type of traffic avoidance system that detects targets on a screen and announces them as they move within a distance parameter programmed in by the pilot. I had the TCAD in my 182 programmed to show two rings, 2NM, 6NM, the announcements would come when the potential conflict aircraft penetrated the 2NM ring. The system detected aircraft within 12NM 10,000' above or below my plane. Nice equipment to have, given the average mid air collision takes place on a perfectly clear day.

Thanks for all the info Jim .. The R22 pilot is hoping for AC and the Sirkorsky is leap years over that .. lol .. He didn't even see the big guy he was talkin' to.

.............. GO PRO ............ so my file conversions halt at 25% ........ n e body ever have same issue or do you think it's my hardware ..... I can watch the entire video in cineform .. but on conversion ....... falters ..

NE body ever have a GOPRO repaired .. dead center of the lens on videos shows like a bright spot / maybe lens has a scuff on it dead center so if subjects face happens to be dead center, you can't really see it clearly ..

edit .... ACTUALLY .. I need to shoot some video of GF without a case on it .. bare camera .. could be the replaceable plastic lens ... uff da

What I meant was, what are those aircraft in the background? I can't make out any landing gear, but their positions and attitudes make it unclear (to me) what's going on there...

Ah... If those are at Duxford, I think the ground drops away a little bit on the other side of the runway. Those are visiting aircraft parked up, with their wheels hidden in the grass and behind the drop.
