When I saw those on his D800 I thought they were red anodized aluminum thumb screws and a lever for the video bracket.

Thanks Leo. I do enjoy the time I spend there, not nearly as much as I'd like to be there. Studying is cutting in to photography time

Laura, I really like the images from the museum. Thx for sharing!

Jo, apparently the squadron built him.

Yeah, that's cool about Iron Mike. I wonder where he came from originally?

Nice time lapses, too.

Gero, I imagine it was, as William Wallace said.. FRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOMMMMMMMMM!

Laura,
why do you think the British really came over 230 some odd years ago - it was not about the declaration. Seems Mike snuck out of Windsor Castle

Here is one I did when we had a Derecho storm blow through DC a few weeks ago. I stuck my Hero3 to a colleague's window with the suction cup and set the time lapse set to an exposure every five seconds and then forgot about it for 3 1/2 hours

Those are great timelapses guys!

I just came across this one yesterday. If you haven't seen it, it's worth the watch.

Ding, ding, ding! Wrei winnada prize. Red anodized adjustment screws on my Zacuto Z-Bracket.

If the whole rig doesn't end up at the bottom of a Florida lake before the week is up, I'll consider myself lucky!

Silly shutter speed challenge.............1/15th bouncing along on my SeaDoo in formation at about 22 knots.

I want you all to know that I am kicking back for some R&R. I've only burned 4935 images this week, practically nothing at all

Oh yeah, this guy kind of cut our evening shoot short yesterday. Everyone lost their enthusiasm for tubing when he popped up

No offense meant, but all I can think of is Moe, Larry, and Curly: "Press. Press. Pull."

starting around the 4:50 mark).

I just got home from two weeks in Michigan and Ontario. The weather was crap most of the time: hazy and humid. But yesterday we finally got a great UP day at Cedarville after the northwest wind set in and cleared out all the dead air. Sailing in 20 knots of wind with crisp temperatures can really restore your enthusiasm for living.

While I was walking in the woods on Little LaSalle Island, Marcia mentioned that a big dragonfly had taken up residence on my hat. He was happily munching on a moth and was too busy to worry himself as I took his portrait. You can see bits and pieces of his dusty dinner on my hat, around his mandibles.

Target Acquired

An osprey's piercing gaze. This photographer was trying very hard not to look like a fish...

Love the light on that osprey, Steve. That is my favorite bird, and they have a look that could pierce you a thousand times. I find those yellow eyes even more piercing than those of a bald eagle.

I hope you weren't flopping around while taking the picture

On more than one occasion while I've been fly fishing, an Osprey has seriously out-fished yours truly. They are definitely exacting hunters/fishers.

This odd helo is currently resting on the ramp at KIWA. It is my understanding that this K-1200 is another aerial asset for our wildfires. It may be small, but I believe it is a serious power lifter.

Jeff,

Great shot of a Kaman K-Max. Was built and advertised as an "Aerial Pickup Truck" with a single pilot and it's only mission was to haul stuff. They marketed it for aerial logging, firefighting, and cargo hauling. The unique main rotor gearbox design came from the Kaman HH-43. My father was one of the mechanics that prepped the new HH-43s and SH-2 Seasprites for their first flight at KBDL in the early 60s.

Thanks for the info on the K-Max KZ. I went back to shoot him at lunch and they had left for another job.

A massive dust storm engulfed KIWA a little before 1:00 PM today causing three Hornets from VFA-97 to abort their takeoff and return to the ramp. As you can see, it got fairly intense and dark enough to turn on the taxiway/runway lights in the middle of the day.
