Nice Phantom J-A. I remember visiting my relatives in Germany as a kid in the 70s and seeing the Phantoms and Starfighters doing low level supersonic runs, and occasionally hearing about their interactions with high tension wires .

Amazing how long a service life they've actually had

I grew up in Germany near the iron fence - those jets rattled our windows all the time, day and night, so much that we got totally used to sonic booms like it was part of the weather.

Even more common noise was Bell UH-1D's coming in with their rotor clapping, all Apocalypse Now style, right over the top of our houses. In 1983 I was in some of those as a German paratrooper, flying down the Fulda Gap a few times so low you had your feet almost touch the trees as you sat in the open doors ready to get out. Cold war was a crazy time - we all thought we'd be dead in minutes anyway, with all those nukes pointed at us.

Steve, great on singing at an MLB game.

Great stuff, J-A!

Laura, how cool you got to spend some time with Harry and hear his stories.

I've been busy singing with Sound of the Rockies in Toronto. We won our sixth consecutive bronze medal in yesterdays's chorus contest: so great to perform for 8000 barbershop fans and always gratifying to bring home the hardware.

As icing on the cake, I'm joining a group of barbershoppers from several states and provinces to sing the national anthems at today's Blue Jays game. Should be a hoot and a half!

Thanks, had to develop an on the spot technique to manage to grab the shot of him. "Knowing your subject" played a huge role

Laura, perhaps his reasoning is he falls with his back towards the ground photographing upwards towards the subject to capture their faces? In that case the flag would be positioned in the correct orientation, field forward.

By the way, I know there are guidelines for patches worn by the military and certain civilian organizations (police/fire/etc.) on a uniform. I have not found anything about applying decals. Our company placed a flag decal in the similar orientation on a trailer we built. I thought it was wrong, but could not substantiate my claim so I kept quiet. Do you have more information I could research? I looked in Title 4 and military FAQs with no luck.

Wrei, I've got these to go by. Field of stars(canton) should always be "leading the charge" or going first, stripes to the rear.

Jim, where was that, and what was going on? There's lots of colored lights, in the air and on the surface. Small hot-air balloons? What about what's on the water in the distance?

Yes, they mark out a display box with bouys and chase errant boats out of that area. Glenn's shot is showing the far end of that box as Randy is coming in.

Here's a few from Cedar Creek. Check out the sunspot on the sun! Jim spotted it. I checked it out, it is Sunspot AR1785.

Nice work team!! I was proud to be shooting back up for you! Got home around midnight, showered, passed out, up at 6:30 for church. Began to feel the needles bouncing on empty about a half hour ago. I'm going to take Sheila to dinner, and hug my pillow early. Glad you all got home safe and sound, thank you for lending your talent and enthusiasm to Thunder this year. I've already heard that we're "cleared in hot!" for 2014 if we choose to accept. We'll run those "FLYING" and "National Geographic" folks they kept talking about out of business at this rate!

I've got a PC12 update, but it'll have to wait. Suffice it to say, it's all good.

I doubt that Jo. TOCC is a difficult venue, light, angles, just about every factor working against a photographer. I'm confident that between the three of us, with Nadya keeping us on the straight and narrow , we'll be able to put together a neat series.
