Upload & Sell: On
Just sitting at Ruby Tuesday's and surfing my iStock numbers. They were certainly challenging at the outset, and still are at times, but i'm glad I stuck with it. I get offers from every other stock source on a daily basis, but decided years ago to give Getty an exclusive and not shop around. The stock market still boggles my mind. I have images that I've shot, almost out of boredom as I droned over the subject on my way to a "paying" gig. Those images consistently download at the highest rate. One highway interchange that caught my eye a few years ago has garnered over three grand in stock sales. I literally looked down, clicked off a half dozen shots as we passed by, and went on to my subject. Can't recall, but I'll bet the actual assignment paid 1/3 of what that one cloverleaf image has, and it continues to do it day in, day out. My misconception was that the stock market is all about sizzling cool images that involve models, lighting, art directors, etc. I have 4,000 downloads, of mostly every day subjects that found their way into my viewfinder as I was doing what I do.
My goal is to build that library to fifty times what it is currently, and just watch the downloads pile up. Like right now, I'm sure there is a misty, windy, cold, drab stock shot to be had between here and the Marriott
