Look what showed up at Texoma yesterday for the first SARL air race of the season!

(I waved to you, Jim, as we drove up on Hwy75...)

This thing goes like the proverbial bat out of hell, around 400mph! Unfortunately the runway was about a million miles from the ramp so no decent takeoff shots to be had. Was fun to watch, though.

I've forgotten who, but I'm thinking some folks here have purchased the 80-400mm VR version 2 ......... I've rented it to shoot ducks in NC in a couple of weeks from lensrental --

I ran into a guy shooting aviation with it yesterday .. said his buddies who have them have determined 7.1 to be the sweet spot. YMMV

This is the way things looked on the ramp before we launched this morning. Followed by a view of one of the massive buttes on the south shore of Lake Powell: plain vanilla and stereo-X, for those who can take advantage.

It's a good idea to keep a little power in when landing on RWY 15 at Page. Undershooting the approach = Bad JuJu

Is there any chance of these planes having the same paint job .. cuz if not, she's been around the block for sure I think my static was from 2011 - don't know why I didn't photograph her last year. It was taken in Easton, Md

Great to have an ID on this plane !

No my photo is from 2004 that plane was later on sold to the usa.
There is another Spitfire in the same colors but that is also a mk xive only with some different features 4 bladed prop different canopy.

The Other One

You definitely wouldn't want to slip below the glideslope....... Is that the sum total of page?

Jay,
Any shots of Horseshoe Bend from the air? It would be safer shooting from the plane than leaning over that ledge, standing on sandstone. There are no railings and it's 1,000ft down to the Colorado.

It's fast, but it is not even close to a Gold winner right now. Word is Kevin is going the turbo route this year. He will need a bunch of boost to get around the Glasair that is the current champ.

There are spooky things in northern Arizona. Circular objects on the ground everywhere. I'm looking out for UFO's.

It's no red rock country...but here's my home town

Downtown in The City by Steven Szabo, on Flickr

err...I believe this is 3 exposure brackets X 6 or 7 vertical exposures wide, depending on how I crop it...I've got some extra real estate off the right hand side that I didn't think added much to it. All handheld with the 70-200 VRII...cus that's how I roll
