Dear Jo,

Sorry one of your community has gone west.

Interesting peek at the future. I'll throw out one question though: All those different forms of interactive displays? Where are the cameras? How could grandma see the girls from the kitchen counter?

And I'm not sure I want work to interupt me while I'm in the bathroom -it's bad enough when the phone goes off!

There is a lot going on, with lack of Airshows, it's time to get some very nice related subject matter and some not so related. I think it brings out the creativity in us. I like the results,...The Crew Chief, is grest.

Tom opened the door and I'm going in. The x number of pages following his post show no lack of aircraft photos to salivate over, I am certainly out of them for a while.

So I offer these instead:

Erich, have you tried building a 45-frame HDR panorama from D800 RAW files?

Wow, are you trying to print a life size landscape? The largest file I've worked with in Photoshop was about 980MB, and that was on a base spec 2.5GHz i5 iMac with only 8GB RAM. Saving was a bit slow, but otherwise it ran fine.

Here's my take on a shot a few people have already shown.

I need a critical eye cast upon this one; does the water work? I already posted an iPad edit of the raw photo, but just reworked it in Photoshop. It's a blend of 3 shots for the lower portion of the pic. It sure would be quicker to get it right in-camera!

Works for me, though I might want a little tighter crop.

Agree with Zim. A tad too much dead space at camera right...

Thanks all. Guess the PShop worked if you're noticing the crop more.

That brings up a thought/question from me. Is there a preferred "percentage of the frame that a single ship should take up? Erich has about 50% there now, so should he be going for 2/3rds? For the record I agree about the dead space, just wondering if there is a number to put to the look or if it is just gut feelings.

Jan-Arie, the Fusion drive is a combined Flash and Hard disk drive.

Brian, for me the crop depends on the mood and movement of the image. I may also change the angle of the subject if it looks better. It's mostly a gut thing rather than a rule thing.
