Did this for three reasons:
1) Better Subject Isolation (at prop shutter speeds, DOF is way, way too deep)
2) Cleaner Backgrounds (another aspect of ultra deep DOF)
3) Less Visible Dust (the bain of being at f/11 and smaller)

Just as an example, this was at f/4.5 instead of the usual f/8 and smaller...
Interesting. I noticed at Road Atlanta during a early, early AM practice I was at f/22 for some stuff. I thought I had left the ISO cranked from the night before. I look down and I'm at 100, not a sweet spot.
