Jeff,

Love the colors and mood in that one!

Not much for aviation here in Iowa, but Mother Nature did serve up one very nice light show the other night. Took a few 10 second exposures to play and I like how they turned out. Hope you like it too.

Dan

That rocks Dan, saw that big head clear down here, was thinking someone had the op for some fantastic shots!

I didn't get a lot of keepers from the Dayton flight portion of the show. My 300/2.8 was making squealing noises while focusing, and I got lots of slightly soft images. It's at Nikon now for a warranty repair category B1 whatever that means.

He stuck the landing, so maybe the wedgie isn't quite as bad as it looks.

Posted these up to POTN, but figured I'd drop them off here as well. Went to the MN Air Expo today - not ideal light as it was overcast and blustery, but had a good time anyhow.

Thanks Jeff, Laura, Mike and all for the nice comments on the Lightning photo. Was fun to capture than one.

And the last few series of air show photos rock. I like the mig, black and white was a nice way to deal with the dreary skis, and I love the photo of Snafu.

Thanks,
Dan

Dear Lady Gray,

It was so nice to see you and Sir Donald last Friday. I trust that Sir Donald has recovered from all the excitement. Frankly I thought that three cameras was overdoing it a bit but such is the enthusiasm of youth.

Nice to see Sir Donald's improved mobility. You where quite right, he does get a bit frustrated with walking around in circles. But as you said, once he gets the other hip done, straight lines will be possible.

I was quite shocked to see Sir Donald driving a car again (but not half as shocked as the car). I am afraid I am unable to explain the unfortunate incident with not being able to lock the car because the engine was still running. This despite having the car keys in his hand. Do you think he's been hot wiring his own car again?

The good folks at Yeovilton have made several improvements following last years difficulties. The PA speakers where mounted at a low hight so giving us a clear arc of fire. In fact they where just as we left them last year after Sir Donald had finished doing the local modifications so no need for the cutting gear this time.

Another improvement was that ice cream was back on the menu !!! Thanks for reminding me about the old pills in the ice cream trick that got the meds down the old duffer a treat.

As you warned me getting Sir Donald to sit down was difficult enough getting him to stay down was another thing entirely. I'm sorry about the rope burns hopefully they will have faded by the time he is next due on the Antiques Road Show.

Thank you once again for the wonderful supper. I have no idea how you manage to fit in all the cooking with just now being the hight of your tourist season at Gray Towers.

As per your request, I have attached an invoice for my days work. As agreed I have billed you at my standard Child Care Day Rate.

Yours Sincerely

Nick

Meant to post this here the other day and screwed it up.

My Dad and I headed up to the Geneseo Warbird Airshow this weekend, first time ever. Friday was fly in and practice day, and it wound up being the best day. Because he wore an 11th Airborne hat, he was recognized by the Liberty Jump Team. By the end of the day, we had been invited to take pack chutes and to take a 1 hour flight aboard a 70 year old C-47, the type of aircraft he jumped from in the South Pacific. We met so many amazing people, and he was treated so graciously by everyone we met. A special thanks for the Return to Normandy organization who treated him so well and gave us both the ride of a lifetime.
