I wish I would have known! Not sure about Corsicana - do you have any more info that what is on the poster about who/what is there? Looks suspect.

As someone who is still on CS5 since I primarily use Lightroom, how is this cloud thing going to work - will you need internet access to be able to use photoshop going forward, or will the software actually reside on your hard drive.

I guess I'm a bit behind the times

Gero,

The software resides on your hard drive.

It checks your subscription is valid every so often.

As an existing Adobe Photoshop subscriber, I'll post more details later tonight.

This is Rusty? I'd agree with the others, look out once you get back in the swing of things. Well done

In other news, check out the bottom right corner of this snapshot from the June issue of Consumer Reports. I already knew the Model S was a sweet ride, but this is really something, coming as it does from the sober, slab-sided CR car guys.

BTW, Jay: I'm liking your new watermarking scheme. Classy, unobtrusive-ish, and damn hard to 'shop out.

Jay: At first I wasn't keen on the watermark but the more I look at it the more I think it works.

I'll be up there in Corsicana as well with the Dog, curious to see this pyro team, and the 2 Russian choppers.

I'm kind of with Jay. I had a hunch this was the route Adobe would go. Upgrading is something that I like to do after the bugs are worked out, at a time of my own choosing. Guess I'll use my CS6 Suite until they do the thing where they don't support the next RAW file, then there will be no choice.

That's kind of where I'm at. I came to the same conclusion as Rodolfo. I don't like the subscription, but it's not a total ripoff.

It is a bit harder to justify for me as a hobby. I've been upgrading every other, or when I needed RAW support. I'll probably consider buying the CS6 upgrade if it supports my next camera. Otherwise I may try to learn Lightroom. But the odds are I'll be lazy, stick with what I know, and go the subscription route.

From Scott Kelby's blog:

"Q. But Photoshop CS6 came out just over a year ago. Now I have to shell out $20 a month?
A. Nope — they have a discount for folks who already bought CS6 (or CS5, CS4 even back to CS3) — they get a one-year intro-deal on a Photoshop CC subscription for just $10 a month and they get all the new features (along with any new ones that are released, for as long as they’re subscribed). "

Key part, ONE YEAR INTRO!! No thanks, CS5 is my last version of Photoshop. I will keep LR to have the latest and greatest RAW converter. If LR goes to cloud, there are many RAW converters out there. All I need is to convert my RAW to a 16-bit TIFF and I'm good to go. I can do everything I need with CS5 and Nik plugins.

Glenn,
I assume those Texas sized honkin' tires are a pre-requisite for landing on the grass airstrips, or do they land those planes on even worse terrain?

great shot, btw

Hi Gero:

Thanks buddy - a well groomed grass strip isn't any different that a paved for most airplanes. With those tires you can land pretty much ANYWHERE - no runway required!

40th Birthday flyin for my friend John Cryrier - included low passes by a Nanchang, multiple Stearman in formation smoke blowing, and this P63...pretty nice birthday id say!

Just my luck. I had debated going on Sunday and then decided on the spur of the moment Saturday AM to just haul a$$ up there. Oh well, guess I'll have to try Corsicana this weekend; it's just a little further drive from Aggieland.

Was trolling the archives looking for something else and ran across this...

This might be the very first "good" photo I ever shot. Nellis AFB, Aviation Nation 2007. Literally the last frame snapped as they were herding us to the buses. Turned around, saw this, snapped it and then got yelled at to move along...
