Oh, and I now see an EDIT and DELETE buttons with every post, not just my own...
Me too
TBH it would be better to have the forum offline for a while until proper control has been restored
So far I only see a few "spontaneous" locks. (Which, though I'm very tempted to remove, I'll leave in place.) But that doesn't mean that no harm is being done. I sure hope that Fred has the proper backups in place, should any rogue user start trashing topic after topic...

I am now getting a 404 error any time I try to use one of the page links (i.e., 1 2 ... end). Doesn't matter if it's a thread or a forum, same error. The little black arrow to get to the end page of a thread seems to work.
I'm also seeing huge typefaces for thread titles. Annoying.

Apologies for that. The forum code is so byzantine that the introduction of one variable can lead to unexpected results, and it's not always possible to spot every error in the testing version. It should be fixed now. It is a testament to the good character of the people who use this site that there don't seem to have been many abuses. Please send an email to fm (at) braine dot com if you have something to report, as the webserver never seems to get emails through to me...
clicking on page 2, 3, 4, end of any thread brings up an error message... this might have already been reported but since I can't get beyind the first page of this thread I've no idea!
Sorry guys - it's fixed now. The links to parts of the thread should be an imporvement in the following ways:
1) you can always see how many pages are in the thread
2) you can always go to the first, second, penultimate or last
3) the end link takes you to the last message in the thread and is always there
4) you can click the ... and type in page number
sorry for the frustration - hope the improvements will make using the site even better...
Right now, the fall out of this little unwanted rights escalation earlier today is that there are a bunch of topics that are locked without any real reason.
Is there any way to navigate to page 3 and beyond on the forum without going to the "end" or clicking "..." and entering the page number? Makes it extremely difficult to browse the topics between page 1, 2 and the last few pages, and the end.

This only seems to apply to topics with lots of pages. This particular topic has only 6 pages and all are visible as well as the end link. Buy and Sell has many pages....maybe it needs a next link after pages 1 and 2 instead of the penultimate page.
Not really a bug, but while your working on this stuff.....
In addition to the 'end' (which was the same as the 'last' was?), I'd really like to see Next and Prev controls. The little page numbers are too small to hit accurately.
